Hockey Weekend Recap – October 30-31

This past weekend, the varsity boys and prep boys played at home, while the prep girls traveled for their first game in program history.
 Varsity Boys Hockey
 
The varsity boys had a pair of games against Hill Academy over the weekend. Thirteen different players recorded at least one point and Caleb Macdonald scored 3 goals in the two games.
 
Game 1 vs Hill Academy
 
Wills Seagrave started in nets for the Spartans, only allowing one goal. The boys outshot Hill Academy 38-15. The game ended with seven different players picking up a goal. Moritz Lackner contributed to 3 goals and found the back of the net once himself for total 4 points. After three periods, the Spartans won 7-1.
 
Game 2 vs Hill Academy
 
Although outshooting the opposing team 53-14, the Spartans were just not able to come up with the win. The boys fell short, losing 5-4 to Hill Academy. MacDonald had a pair of goals, while Raphael Tellier had two assists.
 
Next Time Out
The varsity boys hockey team will be heading off to Minnesota for an exhibition game against Northstar Christian Academy.

Prep Boys Hockey
 
The prep boys hockey hosted Heritage Regional High School for their home opener. They played in front of an energetic and lively crowd.
 
The score remained 0-0 after ten minutes of play until Heritage capitalized and scored. However, the lead did not last long, as three minutes later, Trofim Godochkin captured the first goal of the season with assists from Cédric Beauregard and Ryan Johnson. During the second period, Heritage took the lead once again.
 
The Spartans opened the third period with a quick goal from Presley Langevin. With two minutes and five seconds left in the third period, the game winner was scored by Marcus Krats.
 
Thomas Nyberg shared the crease with Zev Brow; both goaltenders are first year students. The pair faced 39 shots, with Nyberg allowing two goals in the first half of the game.
 
Next Time Out
The prep boys will play November 6 and 7 at home against John Rennie.

Prep Girls Hockey
 
Sunday, October 31 marked the first game in program history for the newly formed prep girls hockey team. They played in Val-Des-Mont, Quebec against Trinity College School. Eleven different players recorded their first-ever point as a Spartan, with 6 of them scoring for the first time.
 
The girls wasted no time making history. It took Darlene Ouimette 25 seconds after the puck dropped to score the first goal for the program with help from Jamie Arsenault and Rosalie Bouchard. Just a minute later Rosalie Tremblay scored with assists from Zoe Charland and Reagan Lynch.
 
All three goalies were able to see the net, each playing for one full period. Joliane Tremblay faced 8 shots, while Annie LaMantia and Lana Peasley faced both 7 shots.
 
The team came out on top with an 8-2 win against TCS.
 
Next Time Out
The prep girls will once again hit the road to play a pair of game against TCS this weekend.
